The Breakaway Standard Lead gives a superb grip on the seabed but releases its grip as soon as the angler starts to retrieve by responding to a certain level of pressure applied either by the anglers retrieve or a hooked fish fighting to escape. Once the grip wires have released, they lie limp and are dragged behind the lead as it moves through the water giving no resistance and remaining tucked away from any snags.
