Floating beads give your rig a certain amount of gentle buoyancy which adds to the attraction of the bait to inquisitive fish such as flatties when fishing on the bottom or Gars when used to gently float the bait at the mid to surface levels. They can also be used to lift your bait slightly off the bottom to avoid crabs picking at it.
