Most definitely one of the heaviest lures used in modern fishing, usually associated with species such as Conger, Ling and Tope often in deep water and over wrecks. Pirks can be used as a weight which doubles up as an attractor to your baited hooks or on its own as the main lure when rigged with a treble hook.  Also, often used in conjunction with another more brightly coloured artificial lure fished above the pirk on the rig. A great lure for large predatory species from the boat.
