| Setting up for Shore Fishing - |
This depends on where exactly you are fishing but can be summarised as follows : Load your spool with the appropriate line for your fishing situation (see below) then attach approximately 23ft of a shock leader which is twice the breaking strain of your reel line.
Beach fishing - main reel line of 20lb bs, shock leader of 40lb bs and weights of between 3oz and 6oz depending on current and wind. A 5oz lead is a good place to start.
Harbour & Estuary fishing - Use a 12lb bs main reel line, 24lb bs shock leader and upto 2oz of lead.
Pier fishing - Use 15lb bs main reel line, 30lb bs shock leader and upto 1oz of lead.
Rock fishing - Use 18lb bs main reel line, 36lb bs shock leader and about 1 - 1.5oz of lead. |
