Go Fishing  >> Preferred baits | Terrain clues | Fishing by season | Knots | Rigs

When making rigs, attaching individual pieces of tackle, or just tying your pre-made rigs to your main line, you'll need to know the best knot for the purpose. There are so many knots and variations, we have selected a "Top Five" which we think are definitely worth knowing, followed by some more general purpose knots. Click on the links below to view each knot !

Albright - Blood bight - Blood - Centauri - Uni - Round turn and two half hitches - Figure of eight - Reef - Sheet bend - Double sheet bend - Anchor hitch or Fisherman's bend

KNOT 2 - BLOOD BIGHT KNOT
To create a loop in your line
Step 1
To begin with, fold the line back on itself so that you have a double thickness of line. Then, form a loop with this doubled over section as shown in the picture.
Step 2
We now have two loops, one which you have just formed (top of picture) and one which has been created by the original doubling over of the line (right of picture).

Twist the top loop twice so that you perform two full turns.
Step 3
Pass the right hand loop through the top loop as shown and pull it firmly so that the whole knot tightens.
Step 4
Your loop knot should now look like this.
