Reviewing
Berkley Liquid Powerbait Attractant
The recommended use of the Liquid Attractant is to
dip fresh bait into the liquid, coating it thoroughly
and then cast out as normal. It can be used for artificial
baits as well but being as these usually have their
own pungent attractant already impregnated, it is
not usually necessary.
Both boat anglers and shore anglers alike at the Bisley
and District SAC tried the attractant and these are
their opinions.
The boat anglers that tried it said that it made no
difference to there catch and that after dipping the
bait into the additive it seemed to wash off as soon
as it touched the water. They did say it might have
worked
better if they could have injected the bait.
The beach anglers were even less enthusiastic
and said that as they cast, the
additive could be seen coming off as a fine spray.
Injecting
the liquid into fresh bait would definitely be better
in terms of ensuring its lasting power but this is
obviously very fiddly and not very practical whilst
fishing.
I think the best application of this product would
be in adding a good strong scent to something which
either has very little or just needs a bit of a scent
revival, and then the most effective course of action
would probably be to inject the liquid before you
go. In this way, the liquid will have time to infuse
its scent into the bait and also dry out slightly
so that it doesn't come off as you cast or wash off
in the water.
