Reviewing the Rapala Deep Down Husky

A versatile piece of kit. I obviously started
out using this purely as an artificial lure jerking the bait to my prefered depth, pausing, jerking again, pausing, then a less vigorous jerk to make the bait wobble as it moved like an injured baitfish. What I like about this lure is that it doesn't start rising when it comes to a halt so it stays put at the exact depth you've chosen to fish, hanging in position right under their noses challenging them to take it.

This is when most of my bites occurred and you have to be careful not to miss the bite while you're line is slack. A great lure for getting to the deeper levels and staying there although make sure you're in deep enough water to not keep diving it into the seabed! Fished just above the rocks or gullies where the fish are lurking entices them to jump out and snap at it as the lure pauses. I've started to improvise a bit with it too as it gives you so much control over the position of your bait at mid levels that I've started to tie it into some of my fresh bait rigs and use less lead. It makes for some interesting fishing!
