Reviewing Sea-Match Rotten Bottom Rock Release Clips

We used the Rotten Bottom Rock Release clips on our first summer holiday competition. We are a youth project and as such most of our fisher folk are juniors. We fished at a venue near Yarmouth called Norton Wall - the ground is fairly rough in places so it was a good test.

After lengthy discussion and much trial while it was still light, we managed to rig them properly so that the whole thing did not drop apart as soon as weight was put on it. The small drawing on the rear of the packaging could, however, be clearer!

Once rigged, we all cast and retrieved with no problems. Because of the ground we were fishing on, most people were using a paternoster rig and the clip did not seem to foul this in any way. Those using a flowing trace did not report any problems either. Unless the snags were really well in, the clip did not seem to pull apart unduly and the fish we caught did not trigger the release once.

Myself and most other members had never used any specific release set-up before and it was nice to take all our tackle home for a change instead of leaving it in the sea.

Sea-Match Rotten Bottom Rock Release clips

Thank you to Kev Froment and the members of the Pavillion Sea Fishing Club, Isle of Wight for trying out this Rotten Bottom Rock Release mechanism from Sea-Match and giving us their opinion.
